If you install and service commercial pumps, you probably have heard your customers (or their engineers) talk about pump efficiency. The fact is, nobody cares how efficient that little 1-hp submersible pump is; but when it’s a 500-hp pump that runs 24 hours a day, pump efficiency is a big deal to your customer. The electrical cost to run that pump is likely the biggest expense for your customer over the life of that well.
All pumps wear over time. Motor windings are damaged, impellers are worn, and bearings start to create drag. Eventually, your pump moves less water and uses more electricity to do it. At some point, it’s time to change that pump… even before it quits pumping.
Right now, your customer doesn’t know that he has a pump that needs to be replaced. He is just paying that electric bill every month with no idea that his pump has lost 10% of its efficiency. How grateful would he be if you contacted him and informed him that it’s time to change it out because it’s costing him too much money?
If you are a water well system installer dealing with this issue, give us a call today to talk about NightOwl Monitoring & Control Systems. We can help you build a remote well monitoring program that will alert you when your customers’ pumps are ready to be sent off to the recycling yard.
